I agree with electrodude's comments, and think that your suggestion offers the best balance. The guest could prepare answers to the most commonly asked questions before the chat, and there would still be time to ask spontaneous questions. It might not be a good idea to allow questions from the "audience", but you could select from questions submitted before the chat. I like the idea of putting the guest on the spot, but it might get out of hand if you allow questions to be asked from the audience in real time. For example, there's no way to limit the number of posts, and the guest might get blasted with an overwhelming number of questions at once. It would take time to read them, and the guest would select the one that he/she wants to answer, which takes away from the spontaneity. Also, you're liable to get redundant questions, which would take time to sort out. You could always try it one way to see how it goes, and fine tune the process if it doesn't work. Thanks to Teresa for her time, and to SI Moderator even though you didn't ask her my question! <grin>

I thought Teresa was great and want to thank you for inviting her. During the build up prior to her speaking there were what seemed like a hundred posts that didn't add anything to my experience so my suggestion is perhaps using a new message board for each session and not activating it until right before it's needed.
