Redhat is the way to go for anyone just starting linux.
My most recent foray into upgrading suggested this. But
below is a major major plus.... No cost auto upgrade.

In looking for info on xinetd, I came across
ncsa.uiuc.edu

I tried /usr/bin/up2date It first required I run /usr/bin/rhn_register I ran the registration process which is just name address etc. I then ran up2date and my system
acute.watman.com aka acute.ath.cx was automatically updated.

While the update was occurring.
I was getting hundreds of hits on my web server.
Mostly "GET /BULK/2002.11.19.supercomp.balt/montage.jpg
or acute.ath.cx
