It's a win/win situation. People in Daschle's position are supposed to be above worrying about radio talk shows. The left wing media has pretended for years that it's simply random chance that talk radio is 90% conservative. The reason Daschle's remarks were described by me as "stupid" is that it rips the cover off that myth.

It is the left wing media who should be especially livid. Daschle has inadvertently challenged their false sense of domination.

If, instead of punishing Daschle, the left wing media decides to "explore" talk radio, you will see Rush, Shawn Hannity, Gordon Liddy, etc., ALL OVER THE MEDIA for the holidays.

I expect that a lot of BOTH of these scenarios are occurring at the same time.

The net result (and again, the reason why Daschle made a horrible mistake) is that the main damage is done to those Democrats who are insisting on the myth that "their message didn't get out" in 2002, rather than the reality that the message was widely REJECTED.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear-in the days leading up to January 7-that the Senate left is grumbling for Daschle's replacement as minority leader, based on a vastly reduced opinion of him as a political leader of national caliber...
