thanks for that prompting, former joe

i checked windows update earlier today with my xp machine.... it said all was current, which i thought odd.

last night (i think it was) i'd updated win2k and win98se.

but because of your post i have just rechecked the mister softee update site and sure enough, there were a couple critical updates waiting there for me.

appreciate the heads up, it's a great help for everyone

:)

I just downloaded XP SP1 on a 56K modem which ran at 48K. My advice to anyone thinking of doing this is -DON'T!!! It took 4 1/2 hours with several disconnects. Although it finally installed and all seems to be operating it just took too long. Grass grows faster.

I waited until now thinking if there were any updates or bug fixes I would get the latest on a download versus ordering a CD. Next time I would opt for the CD, as it was never the $10 cost that deterred me.
