Mike was telling us this morning that he'd gotten a prank letter from the courthouse that he'd be arrested if he didn't send them $37. He wrote f--k you on it and returned it. When he was asked who sent it he said it was from Charles Jones but it was written by Betty Smith. Deputy Sheriff Tony was sitting across from him and said that Betty Smith was States Attorney Jones' secretary and had been for years. He then told Mike that States Attorney Jones wouldn't prosecute him over the $39 because as of Monday he'll become a Circuit Judge and will probably be doing the sentencing. Mike took off for the courthouse ASAP. Mike didn't know that now you have to pay a dog registration of $7 per year and 10 days later it goes to $39 and 10 days after that it's 30 days in jail. Same county where they won't prosecute someone for a bad check if it's under $800.
