If war in the ME, we will win in short order. We will also be obligated to maintain a military presence for a minimum of 5 years and likely 15 to help Iraq accomplish a new political structure. Oil will be sold to pay our costs for waging war 30-40 billion and for maintaining a military presence. This will be a huge boon to Western economy. Very few American soldiers will be sacrificed in the process as can be evidenced in the past couple of military campaigns. We probably lose more slipping in the bath tub than at modern war.

I am not saying this in support or as criticism of what is going on in the Middle East. I figure it has all been staged and calculated for some time. Our allies will support it because it will bring stability to the region and begin a Global economic recovery.

It seems like a done deal. The wild card might be the Al-Quaida or some unforeseen change in the social dynamics of the world.

It looks to me like GWB is in the right place at the right time. You never know though, he could screw up his golden opportunity like clinton did.

That's the point, isn't it?

A new 'eternal war' to replace the now gone Cold War.....

If the war is only between the US and Iraq, it will be short and sweet- -for us. If other ME countries decide to get involved, it could be messy. But that's not likely. They have what happened to Iraq last time as a deterrent.

The way to get a recovery going is to send Americans youth to their deaths? Oh, delightful.
I did not say in any way that that should be a goal.

HOWEVER: Do you disagree that war production would have a stimulative effect? How do you think liberal icon FDR ended the depression?

People won't put up with it and GW will be forced to leave like the disgrace he is IMO
Well, your opinion is likely wrong. Military crises usually work to the advantage of the incumbent President. Lincoln was reelected in the midst of the bloodiest and most controversial war in US history. FDR was reelected in WW2.

LBJ? Had he given the slightest clue that he actually knew what he was doing, he could have won.
