...and going short when the stock is moving north is an almost sure way to lose money. The trend is your friend.

Hi,
Regarding falling in love with a stock: You yourself have remarked on quality of the products of APCC.
When I first purchased the stock seven years ago it had the best products in its field. Two years after I initially purchased it I sold some shares to get funds to purchase a new vehicle. Investments are not to fall in love with, they are financial instruments that supply funds.
I use an investing method called AIM. We used to have a thread here at SI but now we have moved to investorshub.com
The leader of the "group" is a fellow named Tom Veale. He has coined the slogan for us AIMers:"Buy from the Scared and Sell to the Greedy".
That's kind of what I have done with APCC. It is a disciplined method of investing. Most people choose to blow it off, but it works for me. Its how a few hundred shares of APCC have grown to a few thousand using other peoples dollars. Paid for a new Jeep too! I use AIM with my other investments also, keeps me from falling in love with them.
