Look what happened last time 50 and 200 MA got squeezed like they are now...between november 2001 and feb 2002... stockcharts.com[h,a]dallyyay[de][pb200!b50,200][vc60][iUb14!Lp14,3,3]&pref=G looks very similar formation to now, and came after a period where HUI was flat (consolidating) for almost a year after a run up, sort of like the situation now. Not saying it will, but I would at least give it a chance... Notice too, in november 2001 we did dip below the 200 MA for a brief time, so like you said it is possible we could do it again, though if it hung around below for too long or went very far below I would be worried...
