BTW, once when I was working at MickeyD's for a couple months, I was amazed to see the # of people ordering a burger, "super sized fries", and then say "Diet Coke". and some them would come back to have a sundae as desert!!!

Common folk American belief - the rest of the calories don't count if you drink a diet Coke, or sweeten your coffee with Sweet'n'Low -g-

I wonder whether McDonald's is going to sell as many fries now that they are using "healthy" oil. The burgers really aren't all that good, but the fries used to be pretty good. We ate at McDonald's a couple of weeks ago, and my opinion is that the food is mediocre, but not very expensive. The fries are awful!

My favorite burger joint (chain) is Fuddrucker's. Which also does not have good fries, but the burgers are pretty good.

Hi kumar_rangan; Those people who buy the diet cokes probably can't tell the difference in taste between those and the sugared varieties. Since they can detect no difference, why not choose the "diet"? It allows them to eat more french fries, which they can taste.

If McDonalds started offering fat free french fries and no calorie sundaes, they'd probably buy those too, if there was no taste difference. (Or the taste was acceptable.)
