Re constant battle between good and evil in the world

Inspecteur Clouseau, it is a mistake to try to defend religious belief with logical arguments. It always fails. Invariably.

I do believe that there is a constant battle between good and evil in the world. I believe that because God is good, there will always be more good people in the world, than there are evil people in the world.

There are several logical fallacies at work here, quite a few unfounded assumptions, and no apparent connection between them. So you believe there is "a constant battle betwen good and evil" because there must be more good than evil people in the world? This is like saying there must be a battle between the colors white and black because there must be more black than white in the world.

Have you ever asked yourself why America has been so spectacularly successful is such a short period of time?

I suspect you would answer this as "Because God loves us" or something. I would go into an analysis of how America nurtured free competition, open-mindedness, and scientific exploration, going all the way back to a gene pool of the more daring and adventurous Europeans settling in an unknown continent.

This still holds true, and although there is not yet full democracy in Iraq, there WILL be.

God Bless Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Enough with the religious mumbo-jumbo already, you two.

zonder, I do believe that there is a constant battle between good and evil in the world. I believe that because God is good, there will always be more good people in the world, than there are evil people in the world.

Have you ever asked yourself why America has been so spectacularly successful is such a short period of time?

Is it because every single piece of our money says, “In God we trust” on it? Or is it because we are passionate believers in our democratic government? I say it is because of both, and that God has blessed us because of it.

IMO, when the majority of people that are good are given a true choice, they can identify the evil, and safely remove it from any position of power, or change a deed which turned out to be incorrect or evil. Because evil is elusive and can sometimes hide from the people, it is not always a perfect system in the short term, but the people are always correct in the long term. It is democracy that has directly lead to America being so successful IMO.

Democracy is not the only system, but I believe it is the best system. I also believe Winston Churchill when he said, “Democracy is the absolute worst form of government, except for all the others.”

The definition of “evil” from Webster’s Dictionary.

evil (adj) 1a: not good morally b: arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct
