The Miss World contest pulls out of Nigeria:

LONDON, Nov. 22 — After days of sectarian violence linked to the Miss World beauty competition in Nigeria, the organizers announced late tonight that the pageant would be moved to London "in the overall interest of Nigeria and the contestants."

At least 105 people have been reported killed in the fighting between Christians and Muslims in the northern city of Kaduna in the past few days. The violence spread today to Abuja, the capital, where the Miss World Pageant was to have had its finale on Dec. 7.

But President Obasanjo knows exactly where to lay the blame - on the newspaper!

Mr. Obasanjo blamed the rioting on the newspaper article, not the contest. "The beauty queens should not feel that they are the cause of the violence," he said. "It could happen at any time irresponsible journalism is committed against Islam."

Yeah sure, every time irresponsible journalism happens around Islam, the followers of the Religion of Peace just can't stop themselves from killing a whole bunch of innocent people. It's an automatic reaction, apparently. Any minute now some European sympathizer will declare them "desperate" and say "they have no other choice".

Why do I see lots more Islamic riots in President Obasanjo's future?

I'll risk being hit by a bozo, in exchange for confidentiality of my Social Security #.

What is worse is the identity theft that this abuse of these SS numbers allows.

I'd urge anyone who hasn't done so to systematically opt out of using their SSN for things such as drivers license numbers, bank ID numbers, etc. It's always proposed by default to use the SSN, but it should be avoided at all costs.

Once you're hit by identity theft and its use for credit card and other fraud, you're pretty much screwed, and for a very long time.
