Um...I'm trying to recall 3Com, but haven't paid any attention to them since PALM split.

The current tech downturn? Yes. It looks like they could weather several more years if necessary.

Yes in some products and sectors, no in others.

I think beat-up software stocks have a much better risk-reward scenario than hardware. Hardware has become too commoditized. If you want to play a rebound in hardware, suggest you look at the ECMs, such as FLEX, SANM, JBL, SLR, PLXS and CLS. They will benefit from both a rebound in tech and a continued shift of hardware companies outsourcing their manufacturing to third parties.
