The metal copper, has at times, been sold at under the cost of production.

Copper has alternatives. A bull market top has a cooper roof, but a bear market bottom has no copper in its floor.

Do you think oil will (not can) be the same?

As much as environmentalists try to revise the laws of physics, there are no economic alternatives to oil yet.

When Iraq is liberated, it will be a buyers market. But how much of one?

What has the political situation in Iraq have to do with world economics with respect to oil? Before satori one lifts oil and carries gas. After satori one gets a lift from gas and is carried by oil.

My guess is that the cost to produce and transport AG oil fob in the GOM is about $5/bbl

If that's true, you can't determine anything from it and you can't earn dime with it.
