CB you just can't imagine how that entire post shocks many of us here (American and Canadian and other flavours as well). You have my honest heartfelt sympathy and if I lived in similar circumstances I'd carry the biggest MF'en gun I could get my hands on and I'd use it. However, much of the world is not like that. Run away now, don't look back, take your children and run. NO ONE should have to live like that......and they don't.

Regards

C

And what would have happened had you come across another person with a weapon in hand, a person with an ugly profile let's say ?

cb we are lucky to still have you around...
New Orleans.. I pulled off the highway late one night coming from the airport in a rental which didn't have much gas left in it... It was my first time in the area... As soon as I got off the interstate and pulled into a gas station I knew I did the wrong thing... Several guys hanging around the station just watching me.. I filled the tank self serve and got back into the car. Before I knew it a kid jumped into the car on the passenger side and closed the door. No shoes, shorts, tee shirt in tough shape... Wants to know where I am going,, I look up and the seven guys are still watching me... hmmmm
I told him the name of the hotel and he tells me he will take me there... Two choices , ask him to get out of car and unknown what will happen,,, or take him with me... I take choice two and take him with me.. He tells me he is not going to shoot me or knife.. hmmm. He takes me directly to hotel and jumps out of car and says see I told you I not was going to do anything to you....... and disappears.
I still wonder what may have happen if I told him to get out of the car. It was dark , no traffic in the area and no one else in the station other than the gang hanging around in front.
I was also very stupid for not having the car doors locked on the other side.. just never noticed in hurry to get out of rental place.. Now always make sure car doors locked.. full tank of gas... and never pull off some place late at night in an area I am not familiar with.

Hi CobaltBlue; Re: "It was a lucky knife. I had already burned off the tip trying to fix a window air conditioner without unplugging it first."

I used to tell my wife that she shouldn't worry about my working with electricity because since I'm an electrical engineer, I am "immune" to electricity.
