' - Moses, in the film Bowling for Columbine, in response to a question something like 'Why do you think we have so many more killed by guns than does Canada?' .... Moore caricaturises this g.w.n. in using us as a straight man for his piece, but then it's not about us is it ..... film is a must see, stars also GW Bush and Marilyn Manson [who, it would appear, is a 'he' - who knew?] From your post - 'At least we didn't hang the losers. ' Mmm, i would not personally attest to that in a court of law without comprehensive documentation ... perhaps other methods were used for the most part - certainly the repeating pistol was widely available by this time, and ammunition for it vended at quite reasonable cost ... gas chambers, electric chairs, and lethal injections had not yet blessed our species with their technological benefits, perhaps various blades were used where they were ready to hand, still the rope was a classic method, tried and true ... one pictures a group of carpetbaggers a bit down on their luck, comparing the use of the rope which they might subsequently employ for other purpose, and the expenditure of the cartridge, for which this was not the case - cheap as they were, i betcha Mr Moore could not have gotten them at K-mart back then for seventeen inflation-adjusted 2002 usd cents .... no, i would wager dollars to doughnuts, that more than a few condemned losers swung from sturdy branches, perhaps inspiring with their visual effect the six young men from Pulaski Tennessee to form their fraternal society named after letters of the greek alphabet There were other routes to democracy .... the kiwis, the aussies, this g.w.n., the brits themselves, we all managed to make it without quite the gallonage of citizenry blood spilled .... just lucky i guess eh ... or, maybe Mr Moore has a valid point there somewhere in his film ... not that he spells it out clear or anything ... but fwiw, as your neighbour i do think it generally a superior technique to work things out in other manners ... the lion and the lambaster sitting down together ideally, and having a nice cup of tea
