The team should have TWO National Championships instead of being getting none!!!(and they well might have been the greatest Penn State Team ever<but quaterback was for handing ball off ONLY(Milt Cambell????:), two Hall of Famers and one who could have been Hall of Fame if he didn't love music more, the Great Mike Reid) But then PSU simply didn't have the NAME that they now have(it was just beginning to blossom), remember PSU football was not a NAME team for the first 1/2 of the 20th century, (if PSU had the prestige then it has now they would have won the two national championships back to back, imo). To me it was obvious that Franco Harris was the great one and Lydell the hard-nosed inside plugger(he had fine carreer for the Colts). But whenever one witnessed the those huge thighs and superb fluid stride all combined with SPEED and excellent hands, and multi speed gears, one could see he was destined to greatness. BTW, i was vocal about Franco getting the ball more than he did.:) So when i say i haven't seen a reminder of that ability until seeing Larry Johnson, i am also saying, barring injury; Larry Johnson is Hall of Fame gifted. I have no idea why Joe had Larry held back until his senior year. Joe should have seen he was superior to the two backs he had to share carries with last year. Regards a Hall of Fame prediction, i show just how hard it is to get into the Hall of Fame. Only 5 PennState players have made it. Two of whom i do not know:) Penn State (5) Jack Ham Franco Harris Mike Michalske Lenny Moore Mike Munchak Comments , Mike Reid, who played with Franco and Jack Ham would positively be in the Hall of Fame, but when he quit football to pursue his first love, the Piano; when at the top of his carreer, it cancelled his selection to the Hall of Fame( and i feel the NFL didn't forgive Reid walking away). Mike Reid was a Great Player!(equal to Randy White in my humble opinion). The biggest shock is seeing that Roosevelt Grier is not in the Hall of Fame, but that shows how tough it is to get in. BTW only 5 teams have more players in Hall of Fame than PSU. Notre Dame (10) Southern California (9) Alabama (6) Illinois (6) Michigan (6) Ohio State (6) Oregon (5) Penn State (5) Southern Methodist (5) Syracuse (5) But how about this, little Grambling has 4 players in Hall of Fame.
