I knew about the coffee lady. I was talking about the rest of the stories. The thieves. I can't imagine a jury, even with some liberals on it, awarding any amount of money to them when they were committing a felony.

I knew someone who was defending their property and shot a thief in the thigh with carbine from a third story window. The damage was significant and the thief lost his leg because of it. The thief sued this person because of his loss. The jury took only 20 minutes to render their verdict. The thief was shouting insults to the jury as he was being let off to jail and eventually prison. He was later convicted of several home break in's as well as stealing cars.

Granted, this happened in the 70's. Not too much political correctness was going on back then but a thief is a thief. He gets his own self hurt while in the act, that's his problem.
