Typically predatory type people go where there is prey. Noise, lights, people, music, alcohol, cars. Maybe they hang out in darkened corners but there is action going by. Lions hang out near water holes and jackals hang out where there are lions.

I used to work all by myself late at night in a darkened warehouse in a warehouse district full of empty, dark warehouses. Not much prey there.
