Fighting for your land is one thing.

Blowing up totally innocent people is another.

And yet another is paying the families of people who blow up totally innocent people and making heros of them.

I would add to my Modest Proposal that anybody who thinks Timothy McVeigh is a hero should join the line of those to be wiped out. I think we in this country would be pretty outraged if there were a whole line of Tim McVeighs supported and assisted by foreign countries egging them on.

Consider this: Try to imagine that the Native American tribes among us, whose land we unabashedly stole, were to start adopting Palestinian tactics and blowing up busses and trains and planes and shopping centers and bars and other buildings at random so that you couldn't send your kids to school or let your daughter go out dancing with any confidence that they would come home, and you found out that Canada and Mexico and several other countries were actively assisting the NAs and financing them and giving tens of thousands of dollars to the families of those who died killing us. (And to make this real you have to imagine that there are about 200 million NAs so their threat isn't miniscule and they live in every city and town in the country, not just packed off in reservations, so you face a very real threat every time you walk out your door.)

I cannot believe that in such a situation we would be anything like as restrained as the Israelis are being. It's so easy from here to be critical of their responses. But IMO if the shoe were on the other foot, we would be far, far less restrained. Heck, we invaded an entire nation because two buildings were destroyed. What if those were weekly occurrences? What would our response be then???
