On the other hand I know some up there that have a fair number of potential yards, maybe 30 million or more. The thing is one has to delineate delineate delineate as trial mining low pay gravel is not my idea of the way to spend a summer. That means a drill rig is part of the equipment. A low end diamond rig with a 4 cylinder perkins and a longyear 38 head would be all you would need. Even a gopher pulled by a smallish cat would be alright. Only has to be able to drill to say 100 feet. Need a good winch to pull out of boulder fields. Could use the cat's weight to hold the deck down.

The way I would mine is to use a hoe, and dig dry, then put the stuff in a heap behind the hoe and then dredge that up with a suction pipe through a rocker suite. Move the tailings pond on one side of the hoe, with the pit. That way the equipment is minimized and movement of material is low too. Costs are minimized and if good pay is near bedrock it can be maximized.
