Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Announces Letter Of Intent with WellQuest to Market Lo-Chol Through New Public Spin-off

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2002--Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals, Inc.(OTCBB:APPIE):

National TV Marketing Campaign Planned for
Cholesterol-Lowering Supplement

(OTCBB:APPIE) Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company that utilizes whole plants through a proprietary (patent pending) manufacturing process to develop all natural dietary supplements, announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with WellQuest International, Inc. APPI intends to make the new company publicly traded to sell APPI's proprietary cholesterol product, Lo-Chol.

According to the terms of the LOI, the new public company, Healthy Cholesterol Inc. (HCI), was incorporated to market and own APPI's proprietary cholesterol-lowering supplement, Lo-Chol. APPI will own 70 per cent of HCI and will receive a royalty per bottle sold from HCI. WellQuest will provide the marketing expertise and marketing expenditures. So, APPI will benefit from the royalties per bottle sold, along with its majority ownership of HCI. A recent National Institute of Health (NIH) study reports that up to 101 million of the U.S. population has borderline high cholesterol--a market that is addressed by non-prescription supplements such as Lo-Chol. Lo-Chol is unique amongst its nutraceutical competitors in that the company has been issued a patent (http://www.uspto.gov). Lo-Chol in human clinical studies achieved the following:

- Reduced cholesterol up to 58%

- Lowered Triglycerides up to 45%

- Increased good cholesterol (HDL) up to 60%

- Improved HDL/LDL ratio by up to 46%

"We are excited by teaming up with the proven marketing expertise of WellQuest", stated David Lieberman, President of APPI. "We already know through clinical trials that Lo-Chol has a positive impact on lowering one's cholesterol. We just needed the financial wherewithal to create and execute a national marketing campaign utilizing TV commercials and infomercials which WellQuest has done often to significantly increase sales of its products. Now, with the incorporation of HCI, along with the financial and marketing resources of our new partner, we, at APPI anticipate dramatic sales growth for Lo-Chol."
