Samotlor was improperly worked with hydropressure in order to get the highest amount of short term surface oil with the result that it was superficially depleted. The field is still very rich and is being developed properly as we speak. It will become again a big yielder on the order of 500k/day and should last 15 years at minimum or more all depending on future cost of recovery. Romashkino and the others have the same character. All those fields were abused when the Russians refused to follow the instructions given to them by American oilmen who they hired to advise them.
