Why, then do we allow the greedy tort lawyers to steal a significant % of the cost of health care through out-of-control malpractice judgments? One can only conclude that the ultimate buyer of health care is far to shielded from the actual costs to care about the efficiency of the next dollar spent. This is ALWAYS a recipe for over-the-top costs.

The first step is to chase the lawyers out of health care. The second step is to make sure the ultimate buyer has a personal interest in keeping costs down. Amazing how well and quickly that would solve the "health care crises"...

That's why we need to enlist the government, with the guns to take what we want. Cut through all the crap, there's the reason socialists want government involved.

the problem is we as individuals have no power to negotiate.

If we all shared risk together that would be one thing. The problem is that since the government sets the price for medicare recipients the rest of us do not get to share risk except among ourselves. And the government offloads cost from medicare recipients to the rest of us. That is why costs for private insurance are so high. Don't assume that you can even draw blood for $2.65, let alone test it.
