<South Africa could soon be in flames>

kitco.com

I do not understand why anyone would want to invest in South Africa. I work with several white expatriate South Africans (very intelligent-hard working-always cheerful) and they agree with the gist of this article. -although they do not like to talk about it.
BTW I make no moral statements here-whether they deserve their fate or not I do not know-but (to me) their fate is clear.

I know many of the participants here are very nimble traders and can read the tea leaves and sell at a hair trigger. But me I like to use my modified Rip Van Winkle test; If I were to fall asleep for 20 months-do I think my holdings would be alright? I try to eliminate all South Africans from my money.

Interesting that the recent trashing of MDG came from a South African publication:

Was somebody maybe hoping to pick up some MDG on the cheap while selling some South Africans? Anyway I will stick with my North American producers of various sizes and risks but will stay well clear of South Africa.
