In addition, I am not so naive as to believe that war/violence can't be justified under any circumstances, as Alighieri claims. Our wars against Germany and Japan both resulted in a more humane world order after the war was over.

You really should try to open your mind to the possibilities that peace can be equally effective in some scenarios. You state that I am naive, yet I point to your WW2 references, in which Germany, Japan and Italy sought conquest and attacked nations without provocation. These are irrelevant examples of the ME situation. I may be naive...but you fail to synthesize accurately.

Who would not fight when attacked? In WW2, which you use as an example of unavoidable war (I agree) the US did not directly intervene until attacked. The current administration seeks to wage war pre-emptively.

In some twisted way, the current adminstration seeks to use the events of 9/11 to self aggrandize and polarize the political agenda domestically and abroad.

Ted Re...What is it with you conservatives that you can only condemn the Palestinians?

Good question. And I have said before that both sides need to stop the violence

I don't think the violence will stop any time soon. And its not only because of religion.......the Jews vs the Muslims. The West bank is sitting on 2-3 large water aquifers. Water is gold in the Middle East. And no one needs water more than the Israelis.

Its why the Israelis have spent billions to build new settlements in the WB. Why they have encouraged hundreds of thousands of Jews to settle in the WB. They want the WB for their own. The operative word is greed.
