Yes, our once great constitutional republic is withering away under the guise of "homeland security".

It is not a day of infamy. As far as I know, a Law cannot remove the checks and balances which protect freedoms and a Constitutional government. If it is in conflict with the Constitution, the Law is challenged (to the USSC) and declared unconstitutional.

Dear Skeet: You are listening to too many special interest groups. All this does is consolidate EXISTING agencies. Should result in effeciencies both in cost and in information flow. I think its a good thing. Now, I feel sorry for Ridge, the first Secretary probably will have to fight so many infights with power mongers he wont have any strength left to carry the ball. jdn

Bad day, skeet? Since America will be ruined IYO, it might be a good idea to move elsewhere.

The real news is that today is the day we can start protecting Americans better, and that the demos lost their chance to put union jobs ahead of national security.

Sure is fun to watch the left struggle.
