NigerianNews Comments: The arrest of this Editor shows ignorance of the law and confusion in government. By what happened in Kaduna in the last couple of days, Nigerians of all ethnicity have been set further back in our attempt to join the rest of the world. We thought our desire is to be part of the rest of the free world and not the world of the Afghan Taliban.

The world will fail to see how a nation of 419ners will want us to see this fake high moral ground of some of our compatriots. A country where sex is an aphrodisiac for the politicians, Christians and Muslims alike.

In the word of Christ Jesus, it is not what a man consume that defiles him, it is what comes out of him. He said that to the Pharisees with many adherents in the modern day Nigeria! What has come out of Nigeria so far are 419, ethnic hatred, legislative indolence and the religious sacriledge of both the mullahs and the executive. The executive claims God, but fails to know that God puts him there, and therefore must govern regardless of what his adversaries think. We understand he is waiting for his second term. Today is given and nobody knows tomorrow. A man of God does good things all the time, not when it is expedient. The Mullahs started the Shariah without preparing the necessary ground for it, thereby ensuring that only the hands of the poor people get amputated and also exposing poor women folks to be stoned to death..

The executive's SSS has arrested an innocent Editor for expressing an opinion which may not be guaranteed by religion, but nonetheless guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution - Freedom of expression. The executive wants Muslims votes, so he must forsake what God has appointed him to do. What offense is Mr. Simon Kolawole going to be charged with? The executive had announced in a broadcast according to BBC earlier that "those responsible for what it called "irresponsible journalism" would be brought to account.", punish under what Nigerian law? Obasanjo seems to us a dictator rather than a man of God he claims to be.

And finally, what is ThisDay apologizing for? The publisher is probably worried about the money he would lose or the bodily injury he would suffer if he did not. Now we know we must not expect the truth from this Newspaper anymore. This is not because we do not know ThisDay's antecedents of pandering to this people. Mr. Publisher, if you do not like the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Anywhere you look in Nigeria, it is all shame upon shame. Oyo State is not a Sharia state, but the Governor with Shariah sympathizers, watched while Oyo State law was being violated by the Islamists, and not a single person tells this confused Governor that he has allowed the law of Oyo State to be violated. We can hear the Governor now say, the poor guy who got flogged, volunteered himself to be flogged, and nothing he could do to prevent him from himself. His cultist strain of Alliance For Democracy either in Nigeria or abroad watched and said nothing, because this Governor is a "progressive". Awolowo's legacy has been completely destroyed in this part of the country, and those who hold fort, the Afeniferes have been so timid of calling the bluff of their scoundrel Alliance for Democracy Governors dominated by Governor Tinubu and the Obasanjo planted Chairman of this party. Afenifere will soon discover that the little goodwill it has left will soon wither away.

If a new leadership does not rise up, we will not be surprised if Nigeria breaks into at least three components soon. Surely, a country where there is no respect for any of her components has no reason staying together. Obasanjo failed to let the Islamists know that Nigeria belongs to all, and now the scapegoat is an editor who is merely and freely exercising the right the constitution guarantees him. Miss Nigeria Competition now moves to London, we predict, this is not the only thing that will elude a country that everybody runs away from in the first place

One hopes Obasanjo and the right thinking people from the Muslim North will find a way to let this Contest take place in Nigeria as scheduled, otherwise, this may be the beginning of the end of a country that needs friends so desperately yet offer no attraction for friends. We also say boldly, leave the Editor alone!
