Soldiers with guns have an overwhelming advantage, which is why they were in the headline

Not when "hundreds of youths" (presumably not all little 8 year olds) are throwing stones at "an Israeli jeep", which is exactly the wording of the story you posted. In such a case, the two guys in the jeep have exactly two choices:

1. Open fire to disperse the mob
2. Get stoned to death

Under the circumstances, it's pretty surprising only one person was killed. I would think the troops with the guns might panic in such a situation and start firing in earnest, which would lead to a lot more deaths.

Karen, the Palestinian tactics are pretty obvious. For the Palestinians, dead children are a good thing, something they strive to achieve. That is why they teach schoolboys to seek martyrdom, send them out to the front lines (what Western army has ever sent eight year olds to the front?) glorify the martyrs, honor the martyr's family, pay the family big bucks, and revel in pro-Palestinian headlines that make it sound like the Israelis shoot kids for sport.

So that people like you can say Soldiers with guns have an overwhelming advantage, which is why they were in the headline
