You're right. That looks like a great defense, if it works. I didn't see the cost, though the installation - as part of regular maintenance - seems easy enough. The cost of upgrading planes to keep safe and in compliance is so high already, that if it costs $100,000, say, that would be worth it. If it's millions per plane then you're right I don't see that happening soon, except maybe for Airforce 1. btw, ANAL Q? Maybe they should reconsider the name which sounds like a weapon from the latest Austin Powers movie. LOL
