My hand and glove position had to do with responsibility for free speech. It was from the speakers perspective and based on principle not what would be legally actionable.

Some people use civil liberties to irresponsibly perpetrate disgraceful behavior under the cloak of free speech. It is not usually actionable but definitely dishonorable.

It is not critical that the hearer consider the speech to be decent for the speaker to maintain honor in their deportment. But for the speaker to sacrifice decency (from the speakers point of view) in order to say any old thing freely, especially when the speaker himself views the speech as indecent, is dishonorable and an abuse of the freedom.

This is off the top of my head so if its still not clear I will keep trying.
