Rts, To be honest, I only started to look at the COMP to SOX comparison since I found stockcharts.com a few years ago.

Just looking at Oct-Nov 1998 timeframe, the SOX recently retested those levels (210) and the Nasdaq was (1600-1700) at the time, so the multiplier was near 8.0+.

It's hard to compare the Nasdaq over longer periods of time, as its composition and importance in different sectors can effect its index value e.g. the Internet or Networking boom times. I'll try to take a look at longer periods of time.
