Tim,

It is my understanding that Intel, IBM and National Semi all have broad cross licensing agreements with one another. Therefore, IBM or National Semiconductor could buy AMD. However, I highly doubt IBM is interested and NSM already tried with their bad purchase of Cyrix.

The only company that I could forsee buying AMD is Texas Instruments for the purpose of entering (again) the x86 uP market.
