It's a James Bond movie. Sean Connery has just broken into the secret lair of the central bankers, when something goes awry and he's knocked unconscious. He awakes to find himself about to be fed into a currency press where he will be used to pay off debt.
Bond: So that's the game is it? Print so much money that you devalue your currency, allowing you to pay off your debt with worthless paper.
USA CBer Greenspan: Very astute Mr. Bond.
Bond: Of course you're all completely mad, Germany tried it and failed miserably.
German CBer Ernst Welteke: If you're referring to my ancestors bungled attempt at hyper inflation back in the 20s and 30s, well you're missing something.
Bond: How? Anytime you print money like mad you'll send gold skyrocketing.
Goldfinger: That is where I come in. I have convinced my fellow gold hoarders around the world to stop buying gold for a time, while these gentlemen sell off their supply. A supply greater even than mine own. For this we will be given a token land concession in the new world order. I like to call it Australia.
Bond: You're not mad at all, it's diabolically clever. Use your own worthless paper to shortsell gold, and since gold is such a small market it should be easily controllable. But where does it all end?
CB Greenspan: Not that it matter to you, since you won't be around to see it, but our printing presses are much better than the old German models. Theres could only print enough zeros for the 100 billion note. Ours will do 15 zero's making the Quintillion note easily within our reach.
Bond: You'll never get away with it, the Bank Of England will stop you.
CBer The Right Honorable Sir Eddie George: I'm afraid not ol boy. You see even though we're not part of that Euro kabal, we're just as screwed as the rest. Everyone on the dole, housing bubble and the lot. Oh and we'll take back those gold sovereigns you were issued in your field kit/brief case. Every little bit helps.
