Research studies in the United States and abroad have found that lifestyle changes can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes among high-risk adults. [jh: If it can work to prevent it for risk adults, the same should work for everyone else].

But they are not sure why. Diet had something to do with the problem but it is not the cause.

These studies included people with IGT and other high-risk characteristics for developing diabetes. Lifestyle interventions included diet and moderate-intensity physical activity (such as walking for 2 1/2 hours each week). [jh: what does exercise do? It burns blood sugar stored in the muscles, so that next time you eat carbohydrates (=sugar), the sugar has a place to go. How about not ingesting excessive quantities of carbohydrates such as refined sugar and grain in the first place?] For both sexes and all age and racial and ethnic groups, the development of diabetes was reduced 40% to 60% during these studies that lasted 3 to 6 years.

Reducing carbo intake reduced diabetes by 40% to 60%. Why not 100%? If it works for 40%, why not 100%? Because diabetes is not caused by high carbo consumption. However, hi carbo consumption can excerbate the problem and encourage its onset.

But what's truly clear is that American scientists are not clear what is the cause of diabetes. Yet, you make a leap of faith and determine where blame is to be assigned......lifestyle is the cause and all those carbo consuming people are guilty! Its bad enough these people suffer from diabetes and all its ills but you are there to pronounce them guilty of neglect. Thanks for nothing!
