Jim, the gov't can claim whatever GDP growth they like but if companies profits are poor the cost cutting continues - layoffs & anemic investment spending. The past few years have shown that the productivity miracle than Greenspan adores did very little for profits. mike

also, todays Q3 revision to GDP brings two points
USGovt spending was a big piece with war preparation

-- yep government plan, spend and inflate.
