'Take your meds.' - yes sir three bags full sir, cracking first coolie of evening
'OK. What use of military force have you supported? UK vs. Argentina?' - i'm not very informed on this one, at the time atrocities against our closer neighbours the centroamericanos were more the topics among those i knew, also right at that time i was in an intensive work period, never did study roots of it, so no opinion .. one result, it has been said, was the downfall of the fascistas who were ruling the argentinos at the time, so that's good if it's true ... shame they haven't been able to make much progress since though ' USSR vs. Hungary?' - absolutely not, shameful performance out of the russians here, truly disgusting ... my province benefited from it by the way, when many students and staff of the forestry school at Sopron escaped, made it to Canada, and formed our hungarian mafia, centred around UBC ... here is an overview of the story - forestry.ubc.ca ... they are good people, the best, i've had the honour to be acquainted with some ... do not try to drink one under the table, 'twill not go well with ye ... if you're curious about Michener's book Bridge at Andau, they can tell you where it is accurate, and where it is not
When your Commerzwaffe screws british columbian forestry, they are screwing some of those very same people the russians screwed over in 1956 .... think about that ' Nicarauga vs. Costa Rica?' - it's spelled Nicaragua ... those two had a war? ... gee i must have missed that ... ah, maybe you're referring to the couple of years during which Pastora Gómez was operating in the south, and had bases in CR ... not much action took place there if any, as i recall ... no one would or could attack the ticos, as they have no armed forces, their entire defense budget is the eighteen dollars and fifty-three cents expenditure for fireworks that they give to kids to blow up on their day of independence, anybody aggresses on them and you and i will have our respective ministers of war get together and do the buggers toot sweet .... but you likely mean the deal with Pastora - notice that he got disgusted with the act of Reagan's 'my boys' pretty early on, what was it, '83, '84 ... long before the majority of your tax money involved got expended to destroy schools and clinics, and plant landmines to blow up the kids 'Che vs. Bolivia?' - not fully informed, no opinion .. boliviano guvmints have been fantastically corrupt and repressive, this i have heard said ... Che had helped cubanos rid themselves of Batista et al, so that was good ... on specifics in Bolivia, no opinion ' Shining Path?' - again, not sufficiently informed to judge .. they have been at times extremely brutal, as have peruano rulers, it is said ' China vs. Vietnam?' - absolutely not .. though i do not know all detail of the border dispute, the chinese should have learned from the great mistake of the US ... 'teacher, leave them kids alone' ... the vietnamese wanted independence above all, freedom from colonial rule of whatever power, french US or chinese ... now they've got it, and while they're mired in their internal stalinism, one day they won't be ... and, one day, neither will the chinese ' India vs. China?' - again, not fully informed of border dispute detail .. seems like there should be a height of land in those mountains that would form a natural boundary between the two, but perhaps it is open to interpretation in parts, possibly with a history of warring tribes in the area [though i doubt it in this case] ... China has acted shamefully toward the tibetans, and is still doing so today ' What?' - i applaud US assistance in 1918 and 1943-5, as stated above .... Kosovo in '99 i think, all in all ... i would have supported more active peacemaking in Bosnia before that, in retrospect [wasn't tuned into it at the time, personally] ... Sarajevo was savaged by serbs, shameful ... and the muslims and croats got some atrocities committed as well, not far away .... Balkans is a big can of worms, the 1914 war started over the same bloody squabbles ... world is too small now for that stuff, at the same time outsiders better think real good before they step in ... so, i dunno .... good question here, i'll think of other cases later maybe ...... big question now is Iraq, do we want to occupy a muslim nation or not .... snuffing Hussein would be the easy part, he wants snuffing too, thing is what happens after .... also, what precedent this sets, interfering in what are clearly, so far, internal affairs of a sovereign nation ... granted it is an ugly regime and the world would be better off without it, but you and i are not iraqis, do we have the right to decide for them .... plus, will the mad priests then take over ... so, i dunno, haven't decided on this one yet ... even if you do go in, there are multiple choices on how you do so, and i would strongly suggest that no single nation go in on its own - if you can't talk a dozen partners into the project, perhaps there is something about your timing and/or methods that is not such a great idea |
