I wouldn't agree with that.
I don't expect them to be schmucks. But I don't want to adopt any of them, either. We talked about books, and how SI is like a book (at least to us, and to Mr. Dithers, if i recall correctly, and probably to other people who don't come to this little backwater). Even characters you enjoy reading about in a book, you don't necessarily want in your real life. I think SI is like that.

Hi CH,

I came on SI in 1997, expecting people to behave like my experiences in 3D. With normal expectations for decent people's behavior. But how quickly I learned this was not the case, because after a short time, I started to get reamed out of the blue by third parties. And it still goes on...

Why ? I don't really know except now, I expect the worst in people's reaction when I post. Not the best here.. If I posted that the Earth revolves around the Sun, I expect a flaming from a certain segment. I would surmise it is because of the frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, etc. in their lives. And the internet is an outlet for the above. A safety valve. I really don't care when it stays on the net, BUT if it ever leaves SI, and becomes personal with me from anyone, there will be Hell to pay..

I don't know but I will probably get flamed for this post.
