Blue and White

Red and White

Isn't that the truth, the Referendum question was the most ridiculously worded, clumsy question that a committee (12 legs, no head) could have managed. What was clear was that the winning side in the Referendum would have a powerful tool for the future. The Referendum is in the past important only insofar as it illustrates the commitment that the Federal Liberal Party under Mr. Chretien made to the center and to Canada.

The demonstrations and gatherings in Quebec as the Referendum neared were always marked by the blue and white and the red and white and the words Oui and Non, as foolish as the question was, everyone knew what to vote.
