I have nothing against shorts.. they help make the market.

Just to think they will not work to drive the price down is naive. It is well documented they will pick targets to short then hit the message boards to try to drive out vocal longs which can then talk others out.

I said from the beginning that my example had "issues" but is should be clear to all that if the guy you pay to help you make money is betting against your company, then you would fire him no matter what the law says.

Shorts gang up to try to drive prices lower and Brian's fears of that from our new poster are valid, even if she was just looking for information.

Also, bulls gang up on stocks to tell others to buy so their shares go up. No different.

BTW, if you go to an auction and want to bid on some art, would you announce before hand your plans and price targets as she did?

OT Poker and shorts

It is actually a good comparison for another reason... You can team up with others and make a killing... Team up with another poker player and you can have signals to say if you have a strong hand or a weak one and the other can build the pot for you... then fold and not show they never had a hand worth the bets. Illegal but people do it.

When it comes to money, trust no one, especially on message boards or at a poker table.

BTW, in high school I found it better one summer to let my friends caddy at the country club then earn my money afterwards playing poker. They had a saying "Kirk never bluffs". I didn't cheat but that "check raise" was deadly. :)

happy turkey day tomorrow!

Kirk
