Canada is politically correct. First thing they do is make sure who they hire votes liberal, and of course to make sure she/he stays that way he/she must have an IQ less than 72. In addition they are preferred if they are emigrants from a country that the US is at war with or they are a visible minority that has violent issues with the majority's culture. They check out all right wing looking people coming from the US with suspect bumper stickers like Live Free or Die, long hair or right-wing looking accoutrements. Guns and things that make noise, or are used in the country by non city-slaves are not the tools of preferred people. When Canadians born in Muslim countries are going south, possibly to hook up with their Al Quaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah or Al-Jazeer contacts, your border guards give them a rough time. When any sort of Pat Buchanan republicans come north, our thought police give them the same sort of treatment. EC<:-}

After another 20+ minutes inside and a thorough inspection by 7 other guards it was deemed "OK" For a real laugh try going across sometime with a bag of mung beans. They look like giant pot seeds. <g>

Probably the time i was held up the longest at a border was by canadian customs, likely because i was coming from México and not the UK as was the prior plan, this seemed to raise suspicions that they would not permit me to dispell by the simple calling of local people for verification .... and i had gotten to el DF that time via New York and Dallas-FW by passing through with a wink and a nod, flash the passport and they smile, no problema, so it came as a shock to get the third degree so close to my home and business, and from putative representatives of my own bloody country There was a US border gestapo i will never forget, small man with little-man syndrome, first he accused me of trying to sneak in and get a job in His His His own personal nation, and after i'd carefully explained that i'd bought a cheapo last-minute ticket at a place on Burrard that required boarding at Sea-Tac, and that i'd be in His country only those three hundred minutes or so, plus i showed him a wad of usd and loonie hundreds together, then he accused me of maybe having more than usd10k in cash, which was patently stupid as i'd just counted it out for him and it came nowhere near that, also informed him that the big money was in the pieces of plastic .... somewhere in there, had to demonstrate that i had a home and business in the g.w.n., plus good family reason to get south fast ... wasn't good enough for Little Man, made me wait till a whole line-up went through, then he turned with a smirk and said - 'You were giving me attitude.' ... well, i tell ya, you hold me up from getting outside the customs office and having a smoke after a two-hour bus trip, and i'll give you freakin attitude, you betcher boots on that .... but i hadn't previously, you see, hadn't even been aware of His existence on the planet, i'd had a smile on my face, pretty sure of that, thought i was about to have a smoke eh ...... so anyway i'm aware of Him now, presumably He has achieved His goal in this life [edit] - this may have been aggravated by the fact that i had 1. bought the ticket at the last moment [used to be the cheap way to travel solo, can't do that anymore], and 2. permitted my kid's girlfriend to nearly shave my head, this was in the early days when young men were doing that, so i may have looked like an escaped convict or something to this doofus .... but still, what a disgustingly petty individual for a nation to place on its border to represent them to the world We fly direct if at all possible now, Japan Airlines, Hongcouver-elDF, whiz-bang, five hours and a big smile at the entrada, just easier that's all
