Yeah, I guess so. After spending the money on the research, printing of letters, and mailing of letters, these vultures believe they will get a certain number of responses and a certain number of real estate bargains which will pay off later. Having lived in the area for about 50+ years, I'd say the vultures could be right, but rarely. Their challenge is in finding "troubled" homeowners to respond to their mailings---and it's only the troubled ones they want to talk to. Would like to know the response rate to these over-the-transom mailings, because most homeowners in our area are smarter or have other resources for selling than to respond to such obvious low-balling tactics.
