How did it ever dawn upon your liberal brain that that is what I said. I will assume you meant to include a "not" in that statement. To clarify matters, this is was what you said and granted its not "taxing the rich to death" but its pretty close: "Secondly, its apparent the dems want to keep the taxes on the rich high so that they can re-instate welfare for the poor.......". First, I hardly think the Dems sit around thinking of programs they can come up with so that taxes on the rich stay high........the portion of their constituency that's rich would be pissed. Secondly, the Dems are not trying to re-instate welfare because it never went away. I just said that it was a gross misrepresentation of the facts to say that the reps think a person making 20 k per yr should pay as much percentage wise as someone making 200 k. In addition, I also said that if the dems wanted to increase benefits for the poor, the dems should just simply pass a bill and include its financing provisions. Why should they do that.......how many things did the Reps 'sneak' into the Homeland security bill that had nada to do with Homeland security? When Gw came into office there was a surplus. Why not give the surplus back. The dems wanted to keep the taxes the same to enlarge the gov. and their constitutency. There was no surplus surplus.....the budget was running a surplus but because we are up to our eyeballs in debt, those surpluses during the Clinton years went to help retire our monumental debt. Unfortunately, we no longer run surpluses.Well, let me tell you......its more of the right wing's BS spin designed to help them get over the guilt of cheating on their taxes and to justify their 24/7 whining and complaining. Link please. No link needed.......its my pure, undulterated opinion. And btw, its probably right on the money......as D. Ray has made clear ad nauseum, the reps are damn smart so they know you don't run a gov't as complex as ours on pennies. Plus, they never have any trouble forking up the dinero when it comes to defense, so I have to conclude their complaints about taxes are a smokescreen to assuage their guilt over cheating Uncle Sam. ted Enter symbols or keywords for search: QuotesStock TalkChartsNewsPeople Symbol
