You're not placing "importance" on it is, frankly, hard to understand. As a liberal, a "free press" is no doubt important to you, yet a press that consistently distorts the truth is acceptable? That's where you get all hung up. What you consider to be distortion is to me a minor difference of opinion. Why it looks so big to you is because of your profound bias. This is called propaganda. If this is what you call propaganda, you have a lot to learn. Propaganda is C. Rice trying to convince us thru innuendo that Saddam poses as big or bigger threat than Osama. And the NY Times is perhaps the worst example of it in this nation today -- certainly in the print media. The NY Times is the best paper in the land bar none......you'd do to read it more! And if you doubt my word, check out the list of awards the Times has won over years. I can't help it that the Times doesn't justify your bias. The Times is extremist, Hardly.......its your views that are extreme. and it is no coincidence that the city of NY one of the most extreme Left regions of the nation. Scares you, huh? That they elected an extremist liberal carpetbagger a couple years ago. We can argue about which caused the other, but there is a definite correlation between the liberal NY Times and the general political content of the region. Oh please, you whine like an old lady with too much time on her hands! In the same way, I think journalists see much of the real truth of what goes on in the Middle East, and its a different truth than we have been fed for many years. So that when they present their vision of the truth to us, it is so contrary to what has been understood to date and seemingly carries the taint of anti Americanism, our reaction is negative and we treat their truth as an unsavory, liberal bias. Okay, so journalists "see" what the rest of us don't, and therefore can abandon their responsibility for unbiased reporting in favor of building an anti-palestinian sentiment. You really don't read carefully.......the truth can only be unbiased. Its your view of the Middle East that's biased, not their's. Is that why Reuters refuses to use the term "terrorists" to suicide bombers? These people are no better at analyzing complex situations than are the rest of us. You refuse to do the right thing...........before you speak, you need to get better informed. It isn't just about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict -- prior to the election, the Times was almost daily lying in is presentations concerning politics. Were they "righting" wrongs then? No, they were attempting to influence the outcome of the election. Please provide a link to this travesty of journalism. While FOX news and Limbaugh are being battered in the media right now, the fact is that they remain two of the best sources in the media for honest information. Battered? Rush is the one doing the battering and not the other way around. The right's commentators figuratively fight like the suicide bombers without regard to life or limb, again figuratively. Whatever crap hits their fan, they more than deserve.Like I have said to you before, your ignorance of the Israeli/Palestinian history does you a disservice Over the last week or two I've made a concerted effort to read up on the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. And while I now understand more about how the conflict evolved, it hasn't changed my perspective on who is right and wrong, today, one iota. Why? Because the Palestinians are targeting and killing innocents and babies and the Israelis aren't. Period. I question how much reading you've done. If you had read the facts, you would not so easily ignore the fact that the Israelis do the same as the Palestinians, or do you think their missiles are designed to selectively kill military eligible males between the ages of 20-40, and no one else? Is it possible that the life of a Palestinian child is not as valuable to you as an Israeli one? Besides, no one said the history of Palestine justifies suicided bombers but rather it makes clear the very powerful role the Israelis have played in this mess..........and why they must be held accountable. And now they further embroil the US by egging us on with Iraq and Iran and the Saudis. When this activity stops, totally, forever, then the Palestinians can begin to rebuild. Until then, I think the Israelis ought to retaliate with vengence in an effort to stop Palestinian violence. Only then, can any negotiations take place. Very sick and convoluted thinking.......that's why this administration's foreign diplomacy is in the toilet and why former allies are becoming enemies. ted
