Searle,

"At one time the US was seen as an "honest broker", capable of mediation in the Mid-East conflict, but that is no more. Today, the US has effectively declared war on Islam, as Israel has, and this, in turn, will affect relations with Muslims in the US, itself, who clearly, in time, are likely to be treated like the Japanese were during WW2."

There were many in the US who sided with Islam and the Palestinians until 911. Then the tide changed. That is what has allowed Ashcroft and Bush to do what is occurring. Sometimes things over correct. By either blowing yourself up or paying others to do it (in order to get your perceived enemy) is not the solution to bringing peace to an area! That is why most Americans side with Israel to the extent that they do. Religious wars will continue until both sides come to their senses, and that may take a few generations.
