All ACTUAL differences are objective, and all are important; for it is the FACT of comprehensible difference irrespective of the distortion of individual prejudices and biases of perception, which defines and supports the agency of rational thought as the fundamental tool of inquiry into objective reality. The importance of objective differences thus depends on the importance of rational thought. If one believes in the importance of rational thought then one believes in the importance of discrete phenomena.

The subjective importance of differences in phenomena is centered more in feeling and experience. Perhaps these different aspects of the word "importance" are causing some confusion? Objective differences have objective importance. Subjective "differences" have subjective importance. And objective differences sometimes matter at the subjective level of emotion or experience.

The FACT of actual difference is the basis for an objectively structured and rational society.

We rely on the actuality of objective difference to justify the struggle against chaos, disorder, and subjective confusion. Reality, and our ability to assess and qualify it is important to us.

In other words: how we experience life is important at the individual level. But how we objectively "know" life is a higher "species" order of importance--at least if we are to believe that the progression of homo sapiens from imbeciles at the mercy of their environment, to homo sapiens whom have largely mastered their environment, is somehow important to our happiness and our survival.

Without objective difference value would have no direction, and reason would not be a tool--and all effort would be arbitrary in both concept and effect. You may not think that is important, but that would be prima facie evidence that you were encountering the evidence at only a subjective level.
