I think that Al Qaeda and others of their ilk are, in essence, Islamic revolutionaries… their target is primarily not the West and not Israel, but their own people. They need to radicalize the Muslim world, so that in due course they (the current extremists) would be able to capture political power in their respective countries. Yes, that’s what it is all primarily about – power, with everything that goes along with it.

Citizens of a great superpower may find it difficult to imagine that their country is being used by a bunch of crazed peasants, merely as a means to their own ends.

Did you notice how, as soon as the Iraq war has been placed on the back burner for a while, the attacks against Israel escalated? Somehow, I knew that it was going to happen. What is surprising, is the number of attacks in the ‘opening salvo’, as well as the attempt to shoot down the airliner with 250 people. This is major.
