Doug, gas imo will unlikely really break out again for a good while, bwdik? There is plenty of gas in the world, for a long time. Just an issue with delivery, which allows for ST to IT dislocations. Some of these dislocations may result in good pops however.

Imo if I were building a pipeline I would look at doing something larger than 48" for the first stretch. No reason they could not go large than 48", in particular since metal strengths have continually increased over the yrs. Just off the top the larger the pipe the more efficient the transport process, but I haven't studied that. How far that first stretch would be I don't know, but well down into Canada. From that point multiple feeders would develop.

Large oil companies imo are no better and perhaps worse managed than many other. Many of the big ones have been living off the inertia effect for a long time. In the 80's and 90's they wasted a lot of money, in certain areas. You had to be on the inside to know. Now I think they may have a tendency to under invest, like in a Northslope pipeline for example. If they decide to do it I'm sure they will undersize it.

There is a chitload of gas up here, and they haven't really looked for it either. The problem of course is the pipeline or lack thereof.

I really enjoy working with large turbines and compressors. I hope that a pipeline gets done in my working life. I want to take part.
