"These aren’t people who have produced products or services that improved the quality of life for other people. They haven’t discovered the cure for some dread disease. They haven’t invented something. Why is all this money coming to them?"

If you had read the linked article (although by putting it in quotes, it should have been obvious), these lines are from an interview with Dr. Parks -- they are not my words. Although, in context with everything Dr. Parks said in the entire interview, I agree with these statements, and they are not spoken without great thought.

I admired Mark's words and told him so. I assume, at various times, he makes the plan of salvation clear to those with whom he speaks -- since he did mention in this message that Jesus did come to die for man's sins, etc. It goes without saying, that I am taking the Bible as the literal and complete Word of God. Obviously, from your remarks, you do not believe this. For me, if there is not an authoritative, complete, and without error Word of God, then why believe ANY of a writing? And if it IS what it says it is, then I have to believe that since it says God cannot lie, that the ONLY way to inherit an eternal life with God is through a complete and believing faith in Jesus -- because that is what it says. No other faith, religion, leader, etc. claimed to BE God and offer eternal life. Sure, everyone can choose what they believe and how they live, but I believe it is a Christian's duty to show others the Bible and at least point out that it says it is God's words, He says he cannot lie, and show them the verses that say how to get eternal life. If you want to only be concerned with helping people to be "good" in this life and leave your eternity and theirs up to chance or some system of "did they do more good than bad", that is your choice. But to ignore all the parts of the Bible that clearly show God is a God of not just love, but judgment, simply because it makes you uncomfortable or because you think it instills fear, does not make much sense to me. Once again, if you read the entire work, you'd see that to have a fear of spending an eternity without God is surely a good thing.

I'd love to have Mark speak on this. There are many pastors today, in all denominations, who have let this "don't judge others", "don't make people uncomfortable", "don't instill fear", "be positive", "preach only love", "don't preach about sin", etc. wash down the Bible until is is easier to join a church than any local club. Jesus commanded that everyone go and preach the "Gospel". You may want to check out what that exactly is. It is not an all-inclusive, believe what you want, accept everyone, just do good kind of thing. If that's all there was too it, then surely Jesus would not have let them torture Him until death.

I remain,
