1.) I think it's wolf. Didn't look like no bear scat I've ever seen. But youre right, the hair seemed to be causing a great deal of confusion.

2.) I like portages, don't care for too strong a wind, but then I paddle a Prospector, so that pretty much explains that, eh?

3.) I like light boots with my snowshoes and have always worn high shearling-lined mukluks with a bit of soft crepe soles - never cold but useless in wet conditions, but then I avoid that kind of travel like poison.

Nothin' wrong with rusty showers and toilets that run all night. Hey, I'm a Canuck from way back. Spent much of my growin' up years in a cabin up the Ottawa that had all that, only the gas stove burners all worked. These days, a tent does just fine.

Bah... Prospector tracks just fine except in a bad wind. Dances fine on the river, but then, it's my best friend and it aims to please. But you're right...it'll carry a mighty heavy load without complaint.

Anyhow, this stuff is all a matter of opinion. In my travels I've found that canoes are like babies. Every parent thinks theirs is the best and the brightest.
