You are so used to begging the question, you cannot see any other way. Differences need not be significant to anybody in particular to be significant. The significance is not imputed, it is there to discover. The differences between an alligator and a crocodile are fairly trivial, they do not make much difference. The difference between a stone and an amoeba, that is, between inorganic matter and an organism, is large. The magnitude of the difference is there to recognize.

As I said, the ability to discern importance is fundamental to our ability to discern much of anything. Even when more contextual, it is not subjective, but the ability to say what matters to a given investigation......
